The Role of Midwives in Maternal and Reproductive Health
Midwifery is a profession dedicated to supporting women throughout childbirth. Midwives provide comprehensive care during pregnancy and delivery and often extend their services to primary care related to reproductive health. This includes gynecological examinations, contraceptive counseling, promoting normal births, coordinating medical care, detecting complications in mothers and children, and overseeing the delivery process. Midwives are knowledgeable in reproductive health education, covering nutrition, fertility, contraception, breastfeeding, pregnancy health, and infant care.
