Scope of Nursing & Midwifery
This session explores the expanding scope of practice for professionals in midwifery and nursing across clinical, community, and policy-driven environments. Emphasis will be placed on interdisciplinary collaboration, leadership roles, and expanded responsibilities in women’s health, obstetrics, and gynaecology.
Presenters will examine global regulatory frameworks and discuss how task-shifting, skill-mixing, and the integration of telemedicine are enhancing healthcare delivery—especially in underserved areas. The session also highlights the evolving role of nurse-midwives in diagnosing and managing conditions such as endometriosis, and how expanded scopes can improve access and equity in maternal and reproductive care.
Participants will gain insights into adapting professional roles to meet modern public health challenges, bridging gaps in care, and advancing patient-centred models within global healthcare systems.
