The midwife is a profession of supporting the women in childbirth. A midwife provides care to women during pregnancy and birth and some also provide primary care related to reproductive health. This care includes the gynaecological examination, contraceptive counselling, promotion of normal birth, accessing medical care, detection of complication in mother and child and delivery care. Midwives have knowledge of reproductive education in nutrition, fertility, contraception, breastfeeding, pregnancy health, and quality infant care. The midwife also has important roles in education and health counselling not only for the women but also for the family and community. As primary care services are currently lacking many developing countries are investing the money and training for midwives and other community health workers.

 

Nursing research promotes the health and healthcare technological knowledge, patient care and enhancing their responses to the health-related issues, management of symptom, acute care nursing research, cost-effectiveness, vulnerable population, response to illness, health service and nursing studies based on community. Each issue provides support to nursing participators and built their carrier. Nursing research focuses largely on the two areas they are quantitative research and qualitative research. Qualitative research help to understand the underlying reason and options on nursing while quantitative research help to rectify the nursing relate problem.

A healthy diet can help the children to grow, prevent obesity and other weight related diseases such as diabetes. The development adaptations that permanently change in metabolism, structure, physiology of the offspring may result due to the alternation in foetal nutrition, thereby preventing the individual to diseases in adult life.

Midwife is a dynamic practice in which the paediatrics play vital role. They administer the Primary health management to the women and their infants, children and adults including physical, mental, and behaviour health issue so that it enhances the healthy habits and preventing the risk of illness and risk. Paediatrics will be an early predictor so that can able to prevent the infection that affects the child. They can able to support the women from the puberty to the menopause stage. The main aim is to reduce the death rate in infants and to control the spread of the diseases

 

The goal of the midwifery is to give support to the women during pregnancy with safety, unhindered and confidence by this way they can reduce the birth injury. midwives in maternity will be with women, listen to them, share their knowledge and decide. Midwives will administer the physical, psychological and social wellbeing of the mother throughout the pregnancy cycle, provide the education, counselling and continuous assessment who requires attention. They work in clinic, private homes hospitals or birth centres.

 

In today’s world nursing science is one of the most important medical service sectors to facilitate the patient. Nursing science is referred to the holistic science due to the combination of the natural, applied and human science each of these is well understood in relating one another. Natural science will treat the person if the two people have the same ailment then the will treat in same way, however, Applied science in which examines the economics background and the community environment in which they will affect the patient, while the human science will study the social, cultural aspects and philological aspect of each individual. The development in nursing science can improve the clinicians and patients administer care, manage the conditions and balances the health care.

 

Prenatal care is otherwise called as antenatal care and it is a type of preventive healthcare. It is an important part during pregnancy to stay healthy, it includes the regular check-ups help to that help the doctor to treat and prevent the health problem, decreases the complication during pregnancy and increases the chance of healthy delivery. Postnatal or postpartum care usually starts after the birth of the baby and it last about 6-8 weeks. This period is divided into three phases: initial phase 6-12 hours after the birth, the subacute postpartum period lasts up to 2-6 weeks, delayed postpartum period lasts up to 6 months. During this period the mother should have to take proper nutrition, adequate rest, a procedure to handle the baby and other self-care.

 

Paediatric nursing is the medical care of the neonates and the children up to the adolescence stage. They perform the role in paediatric emergency unit, primary care unit, acute care unit, inpatient hospital or daily clinic. Neonatal nursing is the medical care to the patient from new-born to the age of two. They need high dedication, degree of skill and emotional strength as there are handled with new born. Although neonatal nurse work in the neonatal intensive care unit they also provide their services to acute care and primary care in order to stabilize the premature and sick babies to the normal condition.

 

Clinical nurse is the advance nurse who will provide the advice according to the individual condition or treatment.  They are clinical experts in nursing practice within the area, managing the health of the patient. The CNS will be mainly focused on the individual type care, practice setting, problem type, medical subspecialty and population. The person to become a CNS they should become a registered nurse and then the master’s degree in clinical nurse specialities and training in any of the following fields such as acute care, community health, neonatal health, palliative care, geriatric health.

 

The person who specializes in preoperative care, provides care before, during and after surgery to the patient is the surgical nurse. Surgical nurse is otherwise called as theatre nurse or scrub nurse. Surgical nursing has specialization in different field like anaesthetic, recovery room, orthopaedic surgery nurse, colon surgery nurse, oncology surgical nurse, urological surgery nurse, circulating and instrument nurse. The surgical nurse role in surgery is to support and assist the patient, nurse anaesthetist, nurse practitioners, surgical technicians, nurse practitioners and help to prepare the operation room and patient for the purpose of the surgery. After the surgery i.e. post-operative, they must endure the patient and provide with suitable treatment and care.

 

Cardiovascular nurse’s cares people with various condition of the cardiovascular system in which they suffer and help to recover from the cardiac procedure such as bypass, angioplasty or pacemaker surgery. The person who has the certification in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support is the cardiac nurses. The condition that cardiac nurse help to treat is cardiomyopathy, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, cardiomyopathy, unstable angina, myocardial infraction, cardiac dysrhythmia under the direction of a cardiologist. The cardiac nurse role is to perform postoperative care on a surgical unit, stress test evaluation, vascular monitoring, cardiac monitoring and health assessments. Cardiac nurses work in a different environment in cardiac-related care units.

 

Critical care nurse focuses on the patient who is high dependency, life-threatening diseases, critically ill or unstable patients following surgery and operate/maintain life support systems. Critical care nurse can play their role in different environment and specialities such as cardiovascular intensive care units, intensive care unit, general intensive care units, and coronary care units. They can also work in the intensive care unit, trauma unit, and emergency room by undertaking some course such as trauma care course which is offered by the Emergency Nurse Association. Their duty is assisting the doctor, checking the patient vital sign, managing ventilation and life supporting equipment, taking blood samples and performing diagnostic tests.

 

Oncology nursing is one of the most challenging and rewarding fields of nursing other than from general practice nursing. The oncology nurse will care and educates who have cancer from children to elderly patient through the palliative care. They will administer the patients of pre, during and post chemotherapy, medication collaborates with doctors, cancer treatment and other clinicians for treatment plans. These nurses require oncology certified nurse certification and clinical experience in the field of oncology. They focus more on the area of diseases with appropriate screening, preventive practices, care to retain normal functioning as possible, symptom management and supportive measures upon life.
